What To Do If Your Fuse Box Trips!

A tripping fuse board (or consumer unit) can be frustrating, but it’s an important safety feature designed to protect you and your home. Here’s what to do if it happens:

  • Act with Care:
Switch off and unplug all devices and appliances in the affected circuit. This prevents further issues and helps narrow down the cause.

  • Check for Overloading:
Fuse boards often trip when too many appliances are running on the same circuit. Avoid overloading sockets or using multiple adaptors in one outlet.

  • Inspect for Faulty Appliances:
Plug appliances back in one at a time to identify if one is causing the problem. If a specific device trips the fuse, it may need repair or replacement.

  • Look for Visible Damage:
Examine your sockets, switches, and appliances for signs of damage, such as exposed wires or burning smells. If you notice anything unusual, stop using the equipment immediately.

  • Call a Professional:
If the issue persists, or if the fuse board continues to trip, contact us. There may be an underlying problem, such as faulty wiring or an overloaded circuit, that requires some attention.

Remember: A tripping fuse board is a safety measure.  Don’t ignore it—take action to ensure your home and family remain safe.
