Major Changes in the Lamps Sector!

Have you got fluorescent lamps in your home or business? If so, you might be affected by some important new regulations aimed at promoting energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

Whats Changing?

The EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive has introduced a ban on the production of certain types of lamps to reduce mercury use and other harmful substances. Starting from September 2023 and February 2024, the UK will no longer produce fluorescent lamps and halogen capsules. This includes:

  • TB Fluorescent Tubes [2ft, 4ft & 5ft]
  • Compact Fluorescent Lamps [CFL's]
  • TS Fluorescent Tubes [all lengths]
  • TB Fluorescent Tubes [remaining lengths]
  • Halogen Capsules

Why Make The Switch To LED?

Switching to LED lamps offers numerous benefits:

  • Reduce Carbon Emissions: Prevent 1.26 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
  • Save Money: Average savings of £75 each year on energy bills.
  • Longevity: LEDs last significantly longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
